Social innovation

Social innovation

The concept of social innovation is a recent one, on which ECLAC has been working since 2004. It has been found that an explosion of social innovation has occurred in the region in response to social problems that communities, civil society organizations and different levels of government have been unable to resolve using traditional models. It has been a key factor in improving the living standards of the region’s population and has undoubtedly made a positive contribution towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and will continue to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
