Classes will be taught by modules of three hours daily, for six days, and will be streamed using the Teams platform. They will focus on the processing, analysis and mapping of indicators from population and housing censuses using Redatam and QGis with the goal of learning their functionalities. We will explore the potential offered by censuses in the generation of indicators for monitoring the Agenda 2030 and the SDGs.

During the week of November 8th to 15th, for six days, a virtual workshop was held for the Caribbean countries. This was organized jointly by CELADE-Population Division of UN ECLAC and the Regional Office of UN ECLAC for the Caribbean. There were 33 participants from the National Statistical Offices of Barbados, Belize, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Montserrat, Bahamas, Dominica, Suriname, Turks & Caicos, Grenada, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Vincent & Grenadines and Montserrat.

Este encuentro, realizado entre el 16 y el 19 de noviembre de 2021, permitió dialogar sobre la participación de la población afrodescendiente en los procesos censales, su identificación en las estadísticas oficiales, el autorreconocimiento y las brechas de equidad frente a otros grupos étnico-sociales.

Online Redatam workshop: Use and processing of census data for the creation of the Agenda 2030 and SDG follow-up indicators

Registrations are open for a new version of the Redatam workshop that will be held virtually from May 4th to 11th, 2021. This workshop will focus on the use of Redatam to process census information to learn the functionality of the software and explore the potentialities offered by the censuses to obtain specific SDG and follow up indicators.

ARGENTINA: Uso y procesamiento de datos censales para la generación de indicadores de seguimiento de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible

Durante la semana del 3 de agosto, y por cinco días, se realizó dicho taller en la modalidad virtual. Este fue organizado en conjunto por el CELADE-División de Población de la CEPAL y la Oficina de CEPAL Buenos Aires. Se contó con 26 participantes (17 mujeres y 9 hombres) de organismos gubernamentales de varias provincias de la Argentina: CGBA, Catamarca, Chubut, Córdoba, Corrientes, La Pampa, Neuquén, Salta, Santa Fe y Tierra del Fuego.

New date: the Redatam Workshop "Processing census data for the generation of SDGs and 2030 Agenda monitoring indicators" will be held in May and exclusively in virtual mode

Due the health contingency we face today because of COVID-19 we have redesigned the workshop and changed the traditional teaching modality to a completely virtual one, from Tuesday 5 to Wednesday May 13, 2020. The virtual modality implies changes in the teaching methodology, that is how this new 7-day course will be only three hours per day at a time that will accommodate all the participants. This course focus on the processing of population and housing censuses, using Redatam, in order to learn the software and explore the potential of censuses to obtain specific indicators for monitoring the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

Curso Regional de Especialización en Análisis Demográfico para el Desarrollo Sostenible (CREAD 2020)

El CELADE-División de Población de la CEPAL abre la convocatoria a una nueva modalidad del CREAD, el cual se propone atender la creciente demanda de profesionales capacitados en temas de población, tanto desde el sector gubernamental como desde las universidades y organizaciones no gubernamentales de la región. Esta modalidad semipresencial se llevará a cabo del 6 de julio al 10 diciembre de 2020.

Redatam workshop: Processing and examining census data for the generation of the Agenda 2030 and SDG follow up indicators

CELADE invites all Redatam users to a new course/workshop to be held between April 20 and 24, 2020, in Santiago, Chile. On this occasion, the course will focus on the processing and analysis of population and housing censuses databases, using Redatam, to obtain specific indicators for the follow-up of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals- SDG. In turn, like the year 2019, the course will be offered in two modalities of participation: Face-to-face in the ECLAC classrooms and Simultaneous Streaming/Webex via the internet.

El Seminario busca facilitar el intercambio de experiencias y la discusión técnica entre los países de América Latina que preparan la realización de sus censos para los próximos años, con el fin de analizar los alcances y limitaciones de los censos de población y vivienda en el seguimiento coordinado de los indicadores de la Agenda 2030 (ODS) y del Consenso de Montevideo (CdeM).
