The Regional Conference on South-South Cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean, a subsidiary body of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), aims to promote the strengthening of national South-South and triangular cooperation mechanisms and their possible interactions with North-South and multilateral cooperation. The conference encouraged regional and extra-regional actors, donor countries and international organizations to engage in South-South and triangular cooperation to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer and achieve cooperation activities.

The Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development is State-led and open to participation by all Latin American and Caribbean countries. It is convened under the auspices of ECLAC and guided by the principles established for all follow-up and review processes by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in September 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly.

When the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by all 193 Member States of the United Nations at the Sustainable Development Summit in New York in September 2015 as “a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future”, it presented a historic opportunity for Latin America and the Caribbean. Despite progress, the region needs to step up their efforts.

In the United States, total trade in goods and services rebounded in 2021 to its pre-pandemic levels. In 2022, trade in goods sustained the recovery that started in 2021, but the trade in services has not fully recovered as significant services industries such as travel, and transport are still facing the lingering effects of the pandemic.

El lunes 05 de abril, la CEPAL inauguró el Curso Superior en Asuntos Marítimos que será dictado vía online, que tiene como objetivo capacitar, actualizar y perfeccionar a los estudiantes en asuntos portuarios y marítimos. El curso tiene orientación de género y el estudiante deberá ser presentado por una organización nacional WISTA, la red MAMLA, o la CEPAL. Mayoritariamente las candidaturas que se espera recibir serán de mujeres, pero no se descarta que también pueda haber hombres tomando los cursos.
