The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) conducted a training on gender statistics and indicators for the Ministry of Finance of Chile and its dependent and related institutions. This training was carried out in the context of the technical assistance that the Division for Gender Affairs, in coordination with the Economic Development Division of ECLAC, conducts for that institution. The training was attended by 70 staff members and consisted of four virtual sessions and an in-person ideas workshop held between November and December 2023.

Violence against women and girls remains the most widespread and pervasive human rights violation worldwide, affecting more than an estimated 1 in 3 women. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres joined ECLAC staff in raising awareness of this human rights violation during his visit to Chile.

El I Congreso Internacional de la Red Iberoamericana de Investigación en Trabajo, Género y Vida Cotidiana (Red TRAGEVIC), que reunió a destacados investigadores e investigadoras de América Latina y el Caribe y España, así como a responsables del diseño e implementación de políticas públicas por la igualdad de género y a organizaciones de la sociedad civil y tuvo como objetivo principal propiciar un espacio de reflexión y de intercambio de conocimiento en torno a la participación de las mujeres en el ámbito laboral y políticas de cuidado.

El 25 de septiembre de 2023 se llevó a cabo la “21a Reunión Internacional de Especialistas en Información sobre Uso del Tiempo y Trabajo No Remunerado” (RUT), organizada por la División de Asuntos de Género en coordinación con la División de Estadísticas de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI) y el Instituto Nacional de las Mujeres (INMUJERES) de México, la Entidad de las Naciones Unidas para la Igualdad de Género y el Empoderamiento de las Mujeres (ONU-Mujeres) y la División de Estadísticas de las Naciones Unidas (UNSD).

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), together with UN Women and CARICOM, held the first part of the Gender Statistics and Indicators course from 13 to 15 September in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The course was attended by 29 representatives of national statistical offices and machineries for the advancement of women from member and associate countries.

Se destaca del Encuentro el lanzamiento de la ‘Comunidad de Práctica para la Medición de la Sociedad del Cuidado’ y el llamado a fortalecer el diálogo permanente.
