ECLAC strengthens the Regional Water Network by creating the official WhatsApp group “RED AGUA ALC” to consolidate and streamline technical cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Work area(s)
In the context of the ROSA project, ECLAC has contributed to the institutional and operational strengthening of the Regional Water Network for selected countries in the region.
Within the framework of the Regional Network and Observatory for Water Sustainability (ROSA) project, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has strengthened the Regional Water Network by creating its official WhatsApp group, designed as an agile and strategic mechanism to enable immediate communication among water-resources experts from Latin America and the Caribbean. This platform will primarily support the work of government officials from the Dominican Republic, the Plurinational State of Bolivia, El Salvador and Panama, as the founding countries of the ROSA project.
This initiative responds to the need for more dynamic and effective coordination channels that complement the formal technical and policy dialogue spaces promoted by ECLAC. The Network’s official group enables direct, real-time communication among its members, fostering the exchange of relevant information; the dissemination of publications and events; the circulation of training and financing opportunities; and rapid technical consultations in response to emerging challenges in the water sector.
The Regional Water Network brings together specialists from public institutions, international organizations, academic centers, cooperation agencies and technical organizations across the region. Its multisectoral and multilevel nature makes it a unique regional convening space, where diverse perspectives converge to advance more inclusive, sustainable and evidence-based water management.
The official WhatsApp group strengthens the ROSA project by consolidating an active community of practice that goes beyond ad hoc technical-assistance activities. It facilitates continuous interaction among key actors, promotes peer-to-peer learning among countries, and helps accelerate the implementation of innovative water policies.
Likewise, this tool strengthens the Network’s institutional sustainability by sustaining a constant flow of technical exchange that supports the functioning of the Regional Water Observatory and amplifies the dissemination of its products and analyses.
The Network remains active and is continuously expanding. Professionals interested in joining this regional exchange space may send their request to the email agua@cepal.org.
With this initiative, ECLAC reaffirms its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and consolidating innovative coordination mechanisms that promote the transition toward sustainable water security in Latin America and the Caribbean, positioning the ROSA project as a strategic platform for coordination and collective action on water issues.
