ECLAC's Notas de Población journal calls for papers on demography, population and development, and public policies for its issue No. 124
Work area(s)
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) invites submissions of original, unpublished articles, in accordance with guidelines on the ethical use of artificial intelligence, addressing research findings, applied methodological procedures, theoretical developments and discussions, as well as public policy analyses concerning population-related issues, for inclusion in issue No. 124 of its journal, Notas de Población.
In the context of the 70th anniversary in 2027 of the Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Centre (CELADE)—currently the Population Division of ECLAC and responsible for the journal—articles addressing the Centre's trajectory and its impact on the region will be particularly welcome. For the first time in its history, the journal will operate a continuous submission and peer-review process. Accepted articles will be compiled in issue No. 124, scheduled for publication in December 2027.
Interested authors must submit their manuscript by email to CELADE-NotasDePoblacion@cepal.org, copying María Ester Novoa (mariaester.novoa@cepal.org). The instructions and editorial guidelines are available in the Notas de Población guidelines for contributors. These guidelines must be strictly followed for both the manuscript and any complementary files submitted.
The journal Notas de Población published issue No. 122 at the end of June 2026. On July 10, 2026, its second annual webinar was held to present and discuss two articles included in that issue. The event brought together the articles’ authors, officials and specialists and attracted a large and engaged audience. A third webinar focusing on articles from issues No. 123 and No. 124 is scheduled to take place in 2027.
Notas de Población has a 53-year history. Its main purpose is to disseminate studies on the population of Latin American and Caribbean countries, although it also accepts contributions concerning other regions of the world. This publication is indexed in Latin American Citations in Social Sciences and Humanities (Citas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias Sociales, CLASE), the Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal (LATINDEX), the Advanced Document Search System (DIALNET), the Hispanic American Periodicals Index (HAPI), the Information Matrix for the Analysis of Journals (MIAR), and the Redalyc Scientific Information System. The journal is currently working toward inclusion in additional indexes and repositories.
Articles are preselected by the journal’s editorial team, with the support of its Editorial Committee, which consists of prominent specialists from the region. Manuscripts that pass this stage undergo double-blind peer review by the publication's large and committed pool of reviewers, recognized for their excellence, responsibility, and efficiency. Furthermore, the journal benefits from the solid editorial work of the ECLAC Publications and Documents Division, ensuring the high substantive and formal quality of its articles.
