The ECLAC office in Montevideo was established in 1960, to act as a liaison and provide technical cooperation for both national public bodies and international organizations operating in Uruguay.
Its activities include:
(a) Conducting studies and furnishing technical assistance on issues concerning Uruguay’s economic and social development.
(b) Contributing to regional research and reports by ECLAC.
(c) Representing the Commission at meetings and seminars held in the country.
(d) Forging closer links with national, regional and international institutions in the country, and keeping the Executive Secretary of ECLAC informed of developments.
As an integral part of the ECLAC system, the Montevideo office incorporates the Uruguayan perspective into the work the Commission undertakes at the regional level, while disseminating its regional and subregional publications within Uruguay.
The office is open from 9.45 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.
