Rapid population aging is significantly increasing the number of people living with dementia in Latin America and the Caribbean. This figure is estimated to rise from 4.5 million in 2019 to 13.7 million by 2050.

Dementia progressively affects memory, thinking, and the ability to carry out daily activities, reducing people’s autonomy. At the same time, it places a significant emotional, physical, and financial burden on families, who in most cases assume the primary caregiving role.

In response to this challenge, day centers are emerging as a key care and support alternative. These spaces enable older adults to receive specialized care while remaining in their homes and communities, while also providing support and guidance to families and caregivers.
