On September 22nd and 23rd, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a training workshop titled “Training Workshop: Towards Energy Poverty Alleviation in the Dominican Republic” will be held to conclude the technical assistance initiative for measuring multidimensional energy poverty in the Dominican Republic, carried out by ECLAC in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Energy Poverty Network (RedPE).

The event will bring together representatives from public institutions, academia, and civil society to present the proposal for the multidimensional measurement of energy poverty, strengthen capacities for its application in the country, and promote an inter-institutional roadmap that contributes to its implementation and the advancement of a just energy transition.

The National Workshop will take place over two days:

The first session (Day 1) is an open Capacity-Building Workshop on Energy Poverty, aimed at an Expanded Group, which has collaborated through all technical assistance. Through this, it also seeks to bring together professionals from its member institutions and other interested individuals. The first day combines presentations by the team and experts with participatory activities, seeking to establish a common understanding of the concept, dimensions, and available evidence on energy poverty in Colombia.

The second session (Day 2) is a closed-door, technical-policy-focused workshop on a Roadmap for Energy Poverty. It is directed at the institutions of the Technical Group in the broadest sense and continues the co-construction process. Through participatory activities, the 2nd day will produce an initial roadmap proposal and the creation of an intersectoral roundtable for its subsequent validation. The objective is to strengthen the institutionalization of both the measurement of energy poverty and related policy actions in the country.
