Fundar and ECLAC invite you to the third webinar in the series “Press the Green Button Now: Let’s Talk About Green Transitions”
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and Fundar, with the support of the Open Society Foundations, invite you to participate in the webinar “Productive Linkages in Renewable Energy and Hydrogen in Latin America”, which will be held virtually on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
This event is part of the series “Press the Green Button Now: Let’s Talk About Green Transitions”, a series of conversations aimed at promoting regional exchange on sustainable and inclusive productive development.
The Energy Transition as an Engine of Productive Transformation
The energy transition is advancing in the region, driven by the expansion of renewable energies, new storage technologies, and vectors such as low-emission hydrogen. However, its impact is not limited to clean energy generation: it also opens opportunities to develop value chains that strengthen local industry, boost technological capabilities, generate green jobs, and promote more balanced territorial development.
Latin America has abundant renewable resources and initial industrial capacity, but gaps persist in the integration of local suppliers, the consolidation of complementary industries, and the regional coordination necessary to create robust productive ecosystems. In this context, the development of production chains—both upstream (metalworking, chemicals, logistics, engineering, and specialized services) and downstream (green hydrogen, steel, and low-carbon fertilizers)—is key to diversifying the productive matrix and maximizing the economic benefits of the transition.
This webinar will address the importance of moving towards deeper and more diversified green value chains in Latin America, analyzing:
What analytical tools exist to guide these efforts. What industrial policy initiatives are being implemented or planned. What opportunities strategic regional cooperation offers for the development of these chains.
The meeting will bring together experiences and discussions on how to design effective industrial policies in the renewable energy value chain, what lessons can be learned from other regions, and how to strengthen regional cooperation to maximize impacts and opportunities.
