Fifty-first Meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean

In the context of the 20th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the Adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), and in follow up of the Round table on Beijing+20: outlook and challenges held at the 12th Regional Conference on women of Latin America and the Caribbean (Santo Domingo, 2013), the Special Session on Beijing+ 20 in Latin America and the Caribbean will be part of the 51 Meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women of Latin America and the Caribbean, 17 - 19 November, as a forum for discussion and regional consultation on the issue in the region.
The Special Session on Beijing+20 in Latin America and the Caribbean is organized jointly with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women). This forum will be open to participation both by member countries and agencies of the United Nations system, and by representatives of civil society. The conclusions and recommendations will be presented by the Chair of the Regional Conference to the Commission on the Status of Women, at its fifty-ninth session.
