The HSC library kicks off a new cycle of webinars

3 March 2020|Briefing note

The next cycle of webinars will begin on 17 March 2020 with themes related to open access and open science. The 2020 series will also include virtual talks and short interviews with expert presenters.

In March 2020, the Hernan Santa Cruz (HSC) Library will once again be hosting a cycle of mini-workshops in the form of webinars. Since 2016, under the LEARN Project, these ECLAC Library webinars have offered a platform for colleagues and collaborators from various institutions from all over Latin America and the Caribbean to share knowledge and discuss ideas. The webinars engage professionals around issues related to libraries and information, open access, open science and research data management. The 2019 cycle promoted discussion and understanding on topics related to Research Data Management and Open Science in the Latin American and Caribbean region, see the archived content here of past webinars: https://biblioguias.cepal.org/webinars.

In 2020, the first of these monthly webinars will be held on the 17 March 2020 at 11:00am, Santiago time. It is entitled Open Access and Scientific Communication and will be delivered by Arianna Becerril-García, Professor at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM).

This webinar aims to reflect upon the challenges and advances of scientific publication in open access in Latin America; and will address some central topics related to the communication and scientific evaluation model in the region. The professor will also present the AmeliCA initiative, the development of a cooperative infrastructure for scientific communication for the Global South.
