Thirty-fifth session of ECLAC

The Thirty-fifth session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) was held on May 5-9 in Lima, Peru. The biennial meeting is the most important gathering held by this United Nations regional organization. Along with his participation in the 35th Session, Mr. Osvaldo Rosales also appeared as a guest in the television program "La Hora" wherein he provided an analysis of a proposal for the productive integration of countries based on inclusive value chains.

The Summit Peru - A Nation at a Turning Point

Mr. Osvaldo Rosales, Director of the International Trade and Integration Division, recently attended Peru Summit: A nation at a turning point organized by The Economist and held in Lima on May 13-14, 2014. Mr. Rosales was a speaker in the Business and Trade . The Summit provided a forum to discuss the most important issues currently affecting the social and economic future of Peru including finance, innovation, entrepreneurship, human capital, infrastructure, security, culture and politics.

Strengthen intra-regional trade in food is key to de fight against hunger in Latin America and the Caribbean

Mr. José Durán Lima, Economic Affairs Officer of the International Trade and Integration Division, was invited to participate in this Regional Technical Workshop. His presentation was "Logistics Factors affecting food intraregional trade in Latina America and the Caribbean" . This event was organized by FAO in conjunction with LAIA and ECLAC, held at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile on 5 and 6 June 2014.

Regional dialogue on promoting development and trade in services in Latin America and the Caribbean

The purpose of this dialogue is to bring together stakeholders from different countries and regions of Latin America and the Caribbean and various development partners and donors in order, first, to exchange views on the issue of promoting the development and growth driven by trade in services sector and, secondly, to determine elements of a program for Latin America and the Caribbean on policy formulation and trade negotiations on services. This event was held at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile, on 12 and 13 November 2013.

Seminar "Trade relations between Latin America and Asia Pacific: Challenges and Opportunities"

The Monitoring Latin America - Asia Pacific , which was created in May 2012 , ( Watch multimedia presentation ) is a joint initiative of LAIA, CAF and ECLAC. Its purpose is twofold: 1) to promote knowledge about the economic relations between the two regions, 2) provide the necessary information that contributes to the adoption of policies and strategies to deepen this relationship. One mechanism for achieving these goals is to conduct academic and public policy debates. In this context, the August 21, 2013 the seminar was held "Trade relations between Latin America and Asia Pacific: Challenges and Opportunities". It will take place at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
