The 5 and 6 of September

Martin Hilbert, from ECLAC's Information Society Program, participated in the III International Encounter of Investigators. Knowledge, Innovation and Human development

(9/14/2006) By means of a presentation, Martin Hilbert from ECLAC 's Information Society Program displayed the Regional Plan of Action eLAC2007, "information and communication for the development of Latin America, the Caribbean and Colombia" during the III International Encounter of Investigators.

In the presentation, some of the issues discussed were: What are "Information Societies"?, How is seen the Colombian progress from an international perspective?, Which are the key challenges in Latin America?, How can contribute the regional cooperation through eLAC2007?

Organized by Consciencias for Science, Technology and Innovation fortification and to improve the quality of life and the construction of a knowledge society, this was a propitious space to promote networks discussions on knowledge and the social appropriation of Science, Technology and Innovation, and to raise the reflection on the strategies to follow so that Colombia can be inserted successfully in this new Information Society. This event looked in addition to provoke the discussion on the role of new technologies in the fulfillment of Vision 2019 of Colombia, an extensive plan to follow that assures the entrance of Colombia in the new global culture.
