The main purpose of the meeting is to review the on-going and planned activities related to MDG monitoring by various UN agencies, and discuss the plans for the upcoming MDG reports.
The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) is organizing the 24th Inter-agency and Expert Group Meeting on MDG Indicators.The meeting is being held in Geneva from 16 to 19 October 2013, hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The event is part of the yearly consultation with national experts and international agencies to review and discuss issues related to the global MDG monitoring. The IAEG-MDG has been responsible for data development, compilation and analysis for the assessment of trends in MDG indicators. The Group includes the UN Secretariat, a number of UN agencies, as well as national experts from statistical offices concerned with the development of data for MDGs.

The main purpose of the meeting is to review the on-going and planned activities related to MDG monitoring by various UN agencies, and discuss the plans for the upcoming MDG reports. The group will also explore the lessons learned from MDG monitoring at national and regional levels.The meeting is also an opportunity to identify key areas in which international agencies can provide technical assistance to strengthen MDG-related statistical capacity at the country level.
